With severe weather gone, cooler temps, drier skies in forecast
Now that the threat of severe weather has abated, the Triangle is in for cooler temperatures and calmer weather heading into the weekend.
Posted — Updated"We didn't have but one report of severe weather," said WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner. "So, we were very fortunate."
Some cloud cover lingered into Thursday morning, but the skies cleared as the sun rose. Those clearer skies will persist into next week.
A cold front that moved offshore Thursday morning left chilly temperatures behind that will make for a more normal March weekend. High temperatures won't reach 60 degrees again until Sunday, and low temperatures will drop into the high 20s on Saturday morning.
Temperatures will climb again early next week when the Triangle will see the mercury top 70 degrees.
