ROSEBORO, N.C. — With law enforcement stalled, the family of Kiara Wiggins plans their own search Saturday for the woman, missing since June 9.
Wiggins, 38, was last seen at her apartment on West North Street in Roseboro. Saturday's search will start at a nearby Food Lion at 8:30 a.m., and the public is welcome.

"Our plan is to start in the Roseboro area and kind of make a circle around it," Wiggins' cousin, Terrell Butler, said.

Family members believe Wiggins' husband of 12 years, Carl Wiggins, has information about where she might be, but he is sitting in jail and not talking.
The family's hopes soared Wednesday when Carl Wiggins was arrested after a chase through three counties. But they were dashed again when that arrest yielded no sign of his wife. Sampson County Sheriff Jimmy Thornton said he believes that Kiara Wiggins is in danger but said that, when investigators questioned him about her, Carl Wiggins refused to cooperate.

So her family and friends will join the search.

"I believe everybody should be out there helping because she was our neighbor and we owe her that," said Derrick Bonner.

Butler said the search would focus on places Carl Wiggins was known to go.

Roseboro is a small town surrounded by large patches of wooded areas, with plenty of farm land stretching into different parts of Sampson County.

Anyone with information about Kiara Wiggins’ disappearance is encouraged to call the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office at 910-592-4141.
