THAT DATA IS USED BY THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE. NOW MORE PLANES BEING GROUNDED, IT COULD HAVE SOME NEGATIVE EFFECTS ON PRODUCING FORECASTS. >> WELL, IT PRO WILL BE CAUSE THE FORECAST TO BE SLIGHTLY LESS SKILLFUL. >> THAT DOES NOT MEAN THAT WE ARE NOT ABLE TO FORECAST. WE MIGHT BE A LESS LESS CERTAIN ABOUT THE OUTCOMES ON ANY PARTICULAR STORM. >> ONE THING TO KEEP IN MIND, 95% OF OUR OBSERVATIONS COME FROM WEATHER SATELLITES AND THOSE ARE NOT GOING AWAY. SO AS LONG AS WE HAVE THE WEATHER SATELLITES, WE'LL STILL ABLE TO PRODUCE VERY FUSEFUL FORECASTS. >> THIS DATA IMPACT EVERYONE. FORTUNATELY, WE HAVE A TRAINED TEAM OF METEOROLOGISTS THAT CAN PUT AN ACCURATE FORECAST. AMONG THOSE IS METEOROLOGIST KAT CAMPBELL. >> WE HAVE BEEN KEEP EGG AN EYE ON THIS IN THE PAST COUPLE OF WEEKS. WHAT THIS IS SHOWING YOU IS THE FIVE-DAY FORECAST FROM THE EUROPEAN MODEL, THE AMERICAN MODEL AND THE CANADIAN MODEL. THE HIGHER THESE POINTS ARE, THE MORE ACCURATE THE FORECAST IS AND THE LOWER THE DOTS ARE, THE LESS ACCURATE THE FORECAST IS. THIS GOES BACK TO AUGUST. YOU SEE A LOT OF DIPS IN ACCURACY. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT WE ARE USED TO. WE SEE DIFFERENT TYPES OF THE WEATHER PATTERNS THAT CAUSE, SOMETIMES, THE MODELS TO BECOME LESS ACCURATE. SO THIS IS NOTHING NEW FOR US. WE HAVE TO WATCH IT CLOSELY. WHAT IS INTERESTING ABOUT THIS IS NOTICE, THOUGH, THAT WE HAVE THREE DIFFERENT COLORS REPRESENTING THE THREE DIFFERENT MODELS. ON AVERAGE, IT IS ONE, MAYBE TWO OF THE COLORS, A COUPLE OF THE COLORS THAT SEE THE ACCURACY DIP. AS WE AHEAD INTO LATE MARCH, WE HAVE SEEN THE ACCURACY OF ALL THREE OF THESE MODELS GOING DOWN QUICKLY. IT'S SOMETHING NA WE'LL WATCH IN THE COMING DAYS, BUT IT'S NOT ALL BAD NEWS. BECAUSE WE KNOW THIS, BECAUSE WE ARE WATCHING THESE ACCURACY LEVELS, WE ARE EXPECTING -- WE ARE REALLY LOOKING INTO THE OTHER FACTORS, MORE AND WEIGHING THEM MORE THAN WE TYPICALLY WOULD. ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE HAVE TO WATCH IS THE SATELLITE DATA. AS THEY WERE TELL YOU BEFORERS WE ARE KEEPING A CLOSE EYE ON THE SATELLITE DATA. RADAR DATA STILL LOOKS GOOD. NONE OF THIS IS BEING IMPACTED AND WE HAVE GROUND WEATHER OBSERVATION. AND THERE IS TALK OF POTENTIALLY LAUNCHING MORE WEATHER BALLOONS TO ACCOUNT FOR LOST DATA FROM THE AIRCRAFT. WE DO STILL HAVE SOME AIRCRAFT FLYING AROUND AND THE SHIPPING AIRCRAFT ARE FLYING SO WE ARE SEEING ABOUT A 65% DROP IN AIRCRAFT DATA BUT WE HAVE NOT LOST AWFUL DATA. WE'LL KEEP THIS IN MIND MOVING

I'm meteorologist, Amy Wilmoth in the WRL severe weather center, we have an unsettled weather pattern for the next several days. We have some hit and miss storms possible today and then we'll have some scattered storms late this evening and tonight, we'll have a slightly better chance for some scattered showers and storms on Sunday and then showers and storms are likely on Monday, still a couple of isolated showers, Tuesday and then back to just a 20% chance for rain as we head into Wednesday, we have this unsettled weather pattern because we have a strong southerly flow, a lot of moisture disturbance in the upper levels of the atmosphere moving through. And so we'll have waves of rain and storms throughout the day today and into Sunday as well. So here's a look at future cast. Just a couple of hit and miss showers and storms through the day today. So it is not a wash out of a day, but we will be dodging those showers and storms on and off throughout the late this evening. Storms will be possible, especially in the western half of the viewing area. Same thing for tonight. It's the northern and western counties that have the best opportunity for some of those scattered showers and storms and then a decent chance for some hit and miss storms as we head through the day on Sunday. Really, at any point in time, we could have a shower or a thunderstorm. We do not expect any severe weather. I wouldn't completely rule it out, but we're not under a risk for severe storms at this point in time. So we'll be dodging showers and storms today. Temperatures are not as hot. We've been in the nineties the last couple of days. We'll stay in the upper seventies and low to mid eighties today. 82 for the high in Raleigh 79 and Durham 85 for the high temperature in Fayetteville today and just keep the umbrella handy today and you'll want to do that tomorrow and Monday and Tuesday as well. Uh, it looks like we'll have, uh, the summer like heat back as we get into next week, especially by Wednesday, 94 for the high 90 for the high on Thursday. Some storms around on Friday with high temperatures back down into the upper eighties.

Protesters marched around UNC on Friday morning. Their nearly-two mile loop stopped traffic and interrupted students daily activities.

Barricades like these are usually put up during moments of unrest during protests, but they were unnecessary today. As a group of pro Palestinian protesters made their way through campus peacefully albeit loudly to get their message carrying signs of support for the Palestinian people impacted by the Israel Hamas war. Roughly 100 protesters made their way through unc's campus. They want the university to pull out any investments in Israeli businesses. It's unknown if us $5.2 billion endowment invests in any companies associated with Israel. It's what led to unrest on UN CS campus. Earlier this week, law enforcement and protesters clashed at an encampment. We're not here to destroy anything. We're here to get a message out. We're here to pressure people. We're here to make a change. Eri Mitchell is yet to see happen, but he feels this group is making an impact. I believe that seeing Palestinian Children holding up signs saying please continue is a green light for us to keep showing solidarity, to keep showing that we're out here. Friday's protests brought the group through U C's campus, stopping traffic and peacefully interrupting daily activities for students taking graduation photos near the old well, which did draw some support from those passing by. You hear other cars honking? Of course not. I do think that we're at some inflection point. This UN C student wanted to remain anonymous. He's at odds internally battling against the school. He'll get a diploma from in a couple of years. I don't know. I think I'm proud to be a student here. I think the students are showing up, but I can't say that I'm proud, I'm definitely not proud of UN C and the system and what they're doing and they say they won't stop until they see change.
