Strong winds toppled a tree that fell on two houses in Durham Saturday afternoon.

DURHAM, N.C. — Strong winds toppled a tree that fell on two houses in Durham Saturday afternoon.

Police said the large oak hit and snapped power lines, catching them on fire. It landed on two homes at 1016 and 1018 Buchanan Blvd.

One family was home at the time, but managed to get out of the house safely.

Firefighters from three stations responded and put out the fire.
