Police said Trovin McCoy Jr. was killed when he lost control of his 2007 Nissan Versa and the car hit a tree near Hines and Manchester streets.

Paramedics transported three car passengers to hospitals for treatment.

Passenger Thomas Parker was listed in critical condition Saturday at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville. The two rear-seat passengers were treated and released from Wilson Medical Center.

Police said wintry conditions and speed contributed to the wreck. All passengers were wearing their seatbelts.
