WILSON, N.C. — A man was arrested in connection with the shooting death of a pregnant woman at a Wilson club from December.
Success Angelo Chandler, Jr., was arrested for the murder of Precious Dyer on Dec. 26. Chandler was charged with first degree murder and murder of an unborn child.

Precious Dyer, a 29-year-old Greenville woman who was four months pregnant, was shot and killed at Evolution Music Hall in Wilson during a Christmas event. Dyer was a Navy veteran and expecting a baby boy.

Chandler turned himself in on Friday. Wilson County Sheriff Calvin Woodard said Chandler was "validated as a Crips gang member through the North Carolina Department of Corrections."

"It is disheartening to imagine the emotional trauma Precious Dyer's family must endure not only losing a daughter but their first grandchild," Woodard said. "I just pray comfort for Precious Dyer's  family, and we should never let violence control our way of life in Wilson County."

Officials with the Wilson County Sheriff's Office said Dyer was an "innocent patron at the event. There was no evidence of her being in any altercation."

Wilson County investigators were able to link Chandler as a suspect to the shooting through forensic examination and other crime scene techniques.

Chandler is in the Wilson County Detention Center under no bond.
