WILSON, N.C. — Wilson County authorities said Thursday that they are investigating the death of a county jail inmate.

Milton Rhontay Satchell, 20, was being escorted from the jail to the Wilson County Courthouse for a Tuesday court appearance when he said he didn't feel well. He was taken to Wilson Medical Center, where he died.

Satchell was arrested Oct. 13 on charges of breaking and entering, felony eluding arrest and aggressive driving. The arrest followed a high-speed chase through three counties that ended in a wreck in Pitt County, the Wilson County Sheriff's Office said.

Satchell and another man were taken to Pitt Memorial Hospital for treatment after their arrests and were released into the custody of Wilson County deputies on Saturday.

Satchell's body was sent to the medical examiner's office for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
