A Wiener Works employee was shot in the lower back Friday night during a suspected attempted robbery, according to Fayetteville police.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A Wiener Works employee was shot in the lower back Friday night during a suspected attempted robbery, according to Fayetteville police.
A thin, black man with dreadlocks fled in an older molder Chevrolet Caprice after the shooting at the restaurant, 6270 Yadkin Road, police said.
The victim, whose name was not released, was alert and talking to emergency crews. He told police he was coming in the back door of the restaurant when an unknown man approached him with a gun.
Crews took the victim to Cape Fear Valley Hospital.
