Western Carolina University band marches in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

Western Carolina University marched in the 93rd Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday.

CULLOWHEE, N.C. — Western Carolina University marched in the 93rd Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday.
According to the Macy's Parade website, the WCU marching band is made up of 540 members and is led by band director David Starnes.

The band traveled 12 hours on 10 charter buses to get to New York City. More than 40 staff members and 300 parents accompanied them.

The band, known as the "Pride of the Mountains," made their debut in the parade in 2014. Ten other marching bands also participated this year.
