A jury last week found Michael Sistler, 42, guilty of first-degree murder in the Dec. 29, 2008, death of Richard Charlton.

<b>SMITHFIELD, N.C.</b> — A Wendell man has been sentenced to life in prison for a 2008 shooting death near Clayton.

Charlton was at his home on Castleberry Road with his girlfriend when Sistler barged in with a gun, and the two men exchanged fire, authorities said. Sistler was the former boyfriend of Charlton's girlfriend.
