RALEIGH, N.C. — Plan your weekend with our picks including comedy, food and more fun.
Durham Bulls host Fan Fest, AGT finalist Preacher Lawson- The Durham Bulls will hold their annual Fan Fest Saturday night. The event is free but pre-registration is required. On Sunday, comedian and "America's Got Talent" finalist Preacher Lawson will be performing at the ballpark. Tickets are on sale.
Dine Out Downtown (Downtown Raleigh) - Enjoy dinner from your favorite downtown Raleigh restaurants as you dine outdoors on closed streets and listen to live music by local musicians. This event runs April through June every Saturday night. Guests must wear masks and practice social distancing.
The Streetery in Durham (Brightleaf Square, Durham) - On Saturday, head to Brightleaf for The Streetery. There will be added outdoor seating and buskers from noon to 9 p.m. (UPDATE: Due to the threat of bad weather, this weekend's Streetery has been canceled.)
Black Restaurant Week starts this weekend - During the week, participating restaurants will be offering prix-fixe brunch, lunch and dinner menus for dine-in or take-out.
Durham Earth Day Celebration (Durham County Memorial Stadium, 750 Stadium Dr, Durham) - Celebrate Earth Day with Durham Parks and Recreation on April 24. Enjoy concerts and conservation talks from the comfort of your vehicle or bring your own chairs and sit directly in front of your vehicle in the marked space provided. This is a free event, but preregistration is required. Reserve your parking spot online.
Spring Artisan Market (Downtown Wake Forest, South White St., Wake Forest) - Head to downtown Wake Forest on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for this outdoor market features more than 40 artisans. Artist booths will be set up 10 feet apart in compliance with social distancing guidelines, and face coverings will be required for vendors and visitors.
2021 Strawberry Festival Scavenger Hunt - Johnston County is hosting a county-wide Strawberry Festival scavenger hunt from April 24 through May 1. There will be cash prizes.
Bearthday Bites at Home (Raleigh City Farm, 800 North Blount Street, Raleigh) - Raleigh City Farm will be celebrating its 10th birthday and Earth Day on Saturday with a three-course meal from The Pounded Pig, or a family biscuit box. Meals must be pre-ordered. At pick-up, guests can enjoy a guided tour of the farm with music, art and free cupcakes.
Buyer and Cellar (Theatre in the Park, 107 Pullen Rd., Raleigh) - Enjoy this one-man show at Theatre in the Park this weekend. This comedy is about a struggling actor in L.A., he takes a job working in the Malibu basement of a beloved megastar.
Olde Raleigh Distillery whiskey release (209 Arendell Ave., Zebulon) - This craft-spirits distillery, which specializes in small-batch whiskey blends, is releasing its signature blended bourbon under the flagship brand, Olde Raleigh Whiskey Society, on Saturday. The event will run from noon to 11 p.m. and include live music and food trucks onsite from 4 to 7 p.m.
