Music, art, comedy and more

Widespread Panic (DPAC, 123 Vivian St., Durham) - The band will be playing Durham Performing Arts Center Friday through Sunday. It marks the band's first theater performance in the Triangle.
Triangle Rock Paper Scissors Showdown (Big Boss Brewing Company, 1249 Wicker Drive, Raleigh) - This bracket-style competition of the age-old game we all know and love is Saturday night at Big Boss Brewing. Teams of four will be competing to become the next champion. All proceeds benefit Learning Together.
Mike Mello (Goodnights, 861 W. Morgan St., Raleigh) - Born in Virginia and raised in North Carolina, Mike Mello has been in the comedy scene for the last eight years. He has opened for DL Huguley, Ralphie May and Dave Chappelle. See Mello on Stage Saturday night at Goodnights in Raleigh.
Viceroy's Holi Festival (Durham Central Park, 501 Foster St, Durham) - Dance the afternoon away with a color fight and live music at Durham Central Park on Saturday. The Holi festival of colors is celebrated in India to usher in the spring and celebrate the end of winter.
Best of NC Comedy Showcase (Motorco, 723 Rigsbee Ave., Durham) - Enjoy performances from some of the best comics in the state on Sunday night.
Best of North Carolina 2019 (Gallery C, 540 N. Blount Street , Raleigh) - Gallery owner and art historian Charlene Newsom curates this extensive collection. All of the works exhibited are landmark pieces by important North Carolina artists. Some of the biggest names from the 19th and 20th centuries are included.

For the foodies

Cask on Fools (Crank Arm Brewing, 319 W. Davie St., Raleigh) - Help kick off NC Beer Month on Sunday. This festival celebrates the innovation in craft beer with breweries from across the state. A portion of proceeds goes to the NC Brewer's guild and Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of North Carolina.

Soft Beer Fest (Brewery Bhvana, 218 South Blount Street, Raleigh) - Brewery Bhavana hosts its first beer festival on Sunday. They will be featuring beer, cider and great food. Tickets are sold out.
Compass Rose Food Truck Rodeo & Festival (3201 Northside Drive, Raleigh) - The brewery hosts its first food truck rodeo on Saturday afternoon. Trucks will include Arepa Culture, FatBoys Kitchen, Hale Yeah Kitchen and Hibachi Xpress. There will also be live music.
Clouds Brewing Marchtoberfest (1233 Front Street, Raleigh) - Things start on Saturday with Little German Band, Epic Axe Throwing, a stein holding contest, food truck and special beer release. Sunday is for the children with a petting zoo and bounce house. There will also be food truck on hand and beer for sale.
Beer & Empanadas at Durty Bull (206 Broadway St., Durham) - Enjoy a Saturday afternoon with Morfa Empanadas, beer and live music at Durty Bull brewery.
Chili Cookoff Benefiting APS of Durham (Barley Labs, 4015 University Drive, Durham) - A donation of $7 to APS of Durham allows you to taste and vote for the best chili at this this event on Saturday at Barley Labs.

Scavenger Hunts

CurEat Raleigh Scavenger Hunt and After-Party (Downtown Raleigh) - Thirteen teams will be racing around downtown Raleigh and helping to raise money for Inter-Faith Food Shuttle's Agriculture Education Program on Saturday. And even if you don't do the hunt, you can still enjoy a fun after-party at Transfer Co. Food Hall. Tickets include tasty barbecue, drinks and live music.
Raleigh Warehouse District Treasure Hunt (Tasty Beverage Co., 327 West Davie Street, Raleigh) - In this treasure hunt, use a map to follow clues, solve puzzles and crack codes to find the hidden treasure chest.

Family fun

Heroes in a Half Shell: Ninja Turtles (NC Museum of Natural Sciences, 11 West Jones Street, Raleigh) - See the 1990 film Friday night. Prior to the movie, check out movie-themed science stations and after hear from a special guest who will help separate the facts from the fiction. Admission is $5 per person.
Carnival of the Animals (Meymandi Concert Hall, 2 East South Street, Raleigh) - Have you ever seen an elephant ballet or encountered giant sea creatures in a submarine? Larger-than-life puppets and the North Carolina Symphony will bring the animal kingdom to life on Saturday at Meymandi Concert Hall.
Carrboro Annual Kite Fly (Hank Anderson Community Park, Hwy 54 West, Carrboro) - Celebrate National Kite Flying Month by heading to Hank Anderson Community Park on Sunday. This welcome-to-spring event provides plenty of fun. A few kites will be available to use if you don't have one.
UniverSoul Circus (Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek, 3801 Rock Quarry Rd., Raleigh) - See this high-energy show under the big top at Coastal Credit Union Music Park. The show runs through Sunday.
