Festivals

Farm to Fork Picnic - This annual picnic at Fearrington Village is Sunday. Farm to Fork is a tribute to local foods and the people who produce and create them. Dozens of our area’s best chefs, farmers, artisan producers and beverage providers will create an array of delectable dishes highlighting the bounty of the season. The picnic also features fun activities for children, live music and more fun. Tickets are $100 per adult, $50 for ages 13-20 and children under 12 admitted for free.
Mondo Roots Festival - This free cultural arts festival is Saturday in downtown Clayton. Enjoy music from bands including Nappy Roots, live art demonstrations, international food and art vendors.

Apex Latino Arts Festival - Head to Halle Cultural Arts Center on Saturday for this event which includes live music and authentic cuisine, in addition to arts and crafts, piñatas and face painting.
NC Symphony Summerfest - Enjoy the best of Rodgers and Hammerstein during a Friday night concert at Booth Amphitheatre. On Saturday, the symphony will tackle music from your favorite superheroes.

For the foodies

California Olive Ranch and Raleigh Denim Dinner - The Raleigh Denim workshop will host this olive oil centric farm to table dinner by John Upsal accompanied by wine pairings on Friday night. Tickets are $125.

Hummingbird's Negroni Week Launch Party - Hummingbird will be launching Negroni Week on Sunday with a party at its sister event venue, Whitaker and Atlantic. The $25 ticket includes a Negroni cocktail, Italian snacks, music from a DJ and silent Fellini films. Proceeds benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Dining after Dark - Jennifer Dasal, associate curator of contemporary art and host of the ArtCurious podcast, discusses the works in You Are Here at the North Carolina Museum of Art on Friday night. This event features a lecture followed by a buffet-style dinner with a glass of wine and a self-guided walk through the gallery. Advance registration is required.
Raging Bull Food Truck Rodeo - Raging Bull Harley Davidson in Durham will host its first food truck rodeo on Saturday.
Brueprint Brewing Company
Brueprint Anniversary Party - Head to this Apex brewery on Saturday for a four year anniversary celebration including a special beer release, four food trucks, live music and games.

First Friday

It's First Friday in downtown Raleigh. We have a guide detailing specials and other things to do. Here are few of the highlights.
CAM First Friday with Helping Hand Mission Band - Meet band members and make batons and costumes for the interactive, no experience necessary, all-star parade at 7:30 p.m. First Friday marks the debut of HHM Band 365, a photo + video documentary project created in collaboration with the Helping Hand Mission Band, Eve Hobgood, and Shannon Wolf. There will also be food trucks and more fun.

Food Trucks in Bicentennial Plaza - Every First Friday enjoy food trucks in Bicentennial Plaza in downtown Raleigh starting at 4:30 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Beavers, chickens and more

Kickin It Country - Head to Midtown Park in North Hills for live music on Sunday. The event will also include a North Carolina Pork Council Whole Hog Barbecue Series sanctioned cook-off, kids activities, local breweries, specialty cocktails and vendors from around the area.
Beaver Queen Pageant - The Beaver Queen Pageant is Durham's own special mix of folly, pageantry and humor. Contestants take on beaver personalities and compete for the title of Beaver Queen with their fashion, talent and personality. The Beaver Queen Pageant is Saturday at Duke Park. The theme is "Saturday Night Beaver." There will be music, a Scrap Exchange tail making booth and food trucks.This family-friendly and free event raises funds for the Ellerbe Creek Watershed Association.
Tour D'Coop - Try something different and "cluck for a cause" at Urban Ministries of Wake County's annual Tour D' Coop on Saturday. This self-guided backyard chicken coop tour features more than 20 coops in Raleigh, Cary and Apex. Select stops feature bee hives and gardens, and there is even a "supersite" location hosting live music, food trucks and the chance to win your own coop.
Rock 'n Ride Raleigh - This 8-hour cycling event is Sunday at the N.C. State Fairgrounds. There will be food, beer, live music and more to help raise money for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Wake County.
 Le Tour de Femme is a women's only, 15-mile bicycle ride presented by Grab My Wheel to benefit the Lance Armstrong Foundation and the local Angel Fund of Rex Hospital. Blondes vs. Brunettes Game - The teams take the field on Saturday for this 7th annual flag football game at NCSU Method Road Complex. A $20 donation to your favorite player or team will get you a ticket, or bring your donation to the door.
Rocky Mount Mills 5K - Head to Rocky Mount on Saturday for this event. In addition to the race, there will be food trucks, craft beer and a post race concert. All to help raise money for Cystic Fibrosis research.
Patchwork Market - This monthly vintage and local vendor market is Saturday at Fullsteam Brewery in Durham.
