Weekend best bets: Art in Bloom, Pride and Full Frame film fest

RALEIGH, N.C. — A lot of events are happening this first weekend in June. Here are our picks:
Art in Bloom (North Carolina Museum of Art, 2110 Blue Ridge Rd., Raleigh) - North Carolina Museum of Art is bringing back its popular Art in Bloom event. The exhibition, which celebrates art and flowers, will be held over two consecutive weekends - June 3-6 and 10-13. Tickets are sold out for the first weekend, but still available for the second.

Hell Yes Ma'am, it's PRIDE! at Raleigh Brewing (Raleigh Brewing Company, 3709 Neil Street, Raleigh) - In honor and celebration of LGBTQ+ Pride Month, Raleigh Brewing is partnering with Green Monkey to bring you "Hell Yes Ma'am, it's PRIDE" for love, equality, and solidarity, an outdoor event on June 6 at Raleigh Brewing. The event will include a drag show, food trucks and live music.

Full Frame Festival - This year's festival funs June 2-6 and is entirely online. It will include film screenings, Q&As with filmmakers and panel discussions. Festival passes are sold out but you can still buy tickets for individual screenings and Q&As.

Triangle Pop-Up Market (North Carolina Museum of Art, 2110 Blue Ridge Rd., Raleigh) - Enjoy shopping local vendors at this pop-up market this weekend at the North Carolina Museum of Art. The market runs Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Taste of Soul NC Food Truck Event (Durham Central Park, 502 Foster St., Durham) - Enjoy some cuisine from some sweet and savory food trucks on Saturday from 2 to 7 p.m. at Durham Central Park.

NC Symphony Summerfest: Movie Music Classics (Koka Booth Amphitheatre, 8003 Regency Parkway, Cary) - The always popular North Carolina Symphony Summerfest is returning to Koka Booth Amphitheatre this year. Relive your favorite classical music moments in film history, including music from Amadeus, Schindler's List, Platoon, The Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean, Psycho, and more at this show on Saturday night.

Mural by Bike Tours: Downtown Durham ("Major" the Bull Sculpture, 211 W. Parrish St., Durham) - On Saturday, Preservation Durham and Museum of Durham History bikers, guide riders thru downtown Durham showcasing mural art on Durham's historic buildings. The rides take place the first Saturday of each month.

2021 Beaver Queen Pageant - The 17th Annual Beaver Queen Pageant continues this Saturday with the talent portion of the competition. The event will be virtual again this year. You can watch the talent episode on Saturday at 6 p.m. via the Beaver Queen Facebook page, Instagram and YouTube channels. The annual Beaver Queen Pageant is an annual fundraiser for the Ellerbe Creek Watershed Association.

First Friday Raleigh (Downtown Raleigh) - This First Friday help kick off Pride Month with a celebration at Raleigh Union Station Plaza hosted by DRA with LGBT Center. Get your photo in front of the stunning, rainbow-inspired pop-up art installation by artist Jane Cheek while enjoying music by DJ Luxe Posh. Bring the family for games including ping pong, cornhole and Connect 4.

Dine Out Downtown - Enjoy dinner from your favorite Downtown Raleigh restaurants as you dine outdoors on closed streets and listen to live music by local musicians. Streets will be closed and tables and chairs will be provided for safe, extended outdoor dining on Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m. in Glenwood South.

PineCone's Lakeside Bluegrass Series featuring Jon Stickley Trio (Koka Booth Amphitheatre, 8003 Regency Parkway, Cary) - Enjoy this outdoor concert on Sunday evening at Booth Amphitheatre in Cary. Tickets are still available.

Taste of Pimento Cheese (Downtown Cary) - Cary restaurants will be celebrating pimento cheese from June 4-13 by offering various specials. You can also order a special charcuterie box from Grazin Gals that includes two kinds of pimento cheeses!

Marcus Anderson (Koka Booth Amphitheatre, 8003 Regency Parkway, Cary) - See this Grammy and Stellar Award nominated saxophonist at Booth Amphitheatre on Friday night.
