RALEIGH, N.C. — There are many events happening this Memorial Day weekend.
It's officially pool season and we have a list of local pools and splashpads to check out!

Festivals

May 26-28: Animazement - Animazement is a volunteer, fan-run anime convention at the Raleigh Convention Center (Memorial Day weekend), celebrating popular Japanese visual culture in all of its forms.

Food and Music

May 27: Taste of Soul NC (Variety Edition) - Head to Durham Central Park for this food truck rodeo featuring seafood, Mexican food, barbecue, Jamaican food, Dominican food, pineapple smoothies and more. There will also be vendors, a DJ and bounce houses.
May 28: NC Sugar Rush - Enjoy this all-dessert food rodeo in City Plaza on May 28 from noon to 5 p.m. Admission is free.
May 27: Summerfest Opening Night: Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 5 - Pack your picnic, lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy great music under the stars at Booth Amphitheatre on Saturday night.
May 28: Triangle Wind Ensemble Concert: The Music of John Williams - John Williams has been called America's greatest living composer. Best known for his film scores, he has also composed music for the concert hall, theme music for TV series and NBC Sunday Night Football, The Olympics and presidential inaugurations. This exciting program of popular and exciting works will also include a patriotic tribute in recognition of Memorial Day weekend at Booth Amphitheatre.

Family Fun

May 27: Family Movie Night - The Town of Wake Forest will host this free movie screening of "Lady & the Tramp" at Joyner Park at 8:30 p.m. Movie-related pre-show activities begin at 7:15pm.
May 27: Walk for the Animals - APS heads back to Duke’s East Campus for their annual Walk for the Animals, a 1.5-mile charity walk around Duke University’s East Campus to raise money and awareness for homeless and neglected pets throughout the Durham community.
May 27: Children's Entrepreneur Fair -Come out for a fun-filled day of creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship at the Children's Entrepreneur Fair noon to 3:00 p.m. at Fortnight Brewing in Cary. The event will feature a wide array of young vendors who will be showcasing their unique products and services to the public.
May 27 - Legends for Youth Baseball Clinic - Free Youth Baseball Clinic for ages 6-13 years old. Former Major League Baseball players will teach the fundamentals of the game and life skills in Durham.
May 27: Movies at the Library: Head to the Southgate Community Library in Raleigh to watch Raya and the Last Dragon for free!
May 27: Beauty and the Beast - Presented by by Paper & Stars Studio, Enchanted Wishes, and Hartwell Event Space, Step Into The Story is a new series at Hartwell in downtown Raleigh! This Saturday the groups will kick off this new story hour with Belle and Beast! Tickets are $25 include interactive storytime and themed crafts and snacks, plus a keepsake gift.
May 27: Meet the birds - CLAWS, a volunteer wildlife rehabilitation group, will be at Starrlight Mead in Pittsboro to introduce you to birds and more.
May 27-28: Repticon Raleigh - See live animals from around the world, purchase pets and pet products direct from the experts and learn more about reptiles and exotic animals at the NC State Fairgrounds.
May 28: Bring the kids candle-making workshop - Join in for this kid-friendly scent design and candle making workshop! Bright Black co-founders and their daughter will guide you on a scent journey inspired by childhood fun. After the workshop, hang out for a bit, read a story and enjoy a snack. Ages 5-12. Tickets are $35.
Now-May 29: Smithfield Family Days - Carolina Premium Outlets is hosing a carnival through the end of the month. Enjoy rides, games, and family fun on weekdays from 5:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m. and weekends from 1:00 p.m. -11:00 p.m.
