RALEIGH, N.C. — With all the talk about a possible blue wave in the November elections, on Wednesday it was a red wave – make that several waves – that washed over the legislature.

An estimated 20,000 teachers and supporters, almost all wearing red T-shirts, flooded downtown Raleigh and filled the Legislative Building to press for more education funding. There was some disruptive behavior, but by and large, teachers were able to talk with their local lawmakers to get their message out.

Teachers also are known for apples, and the Triangle might soon be as well. Several sources said North Carolina is putting the finishing touches on an incentives package for a major Apple investment in the state, including thousands of high-paying jobs in the Triangle.
