Margot Schein and Julian Parris, both originally from California, married on Nov. 29 in a San Diego Costco.
The couple says the wholesale store is a special place, the place they had their first date.
Schein said she was busy applying to graduate school and was not in a place to date, but when she came across Parris' OkCupid profile, which mentioned Costco, she had to reach out.
"I really wasn't trying to flirt," she said. "I just said, 'Good for you for having Costco in your profile. Most people don't do that, and it’s a great place.'"
The pair started messaging back and forth and they decided to go on a date - at Costco. Parris said they enjoyed lunch together in the food court before doing a little shopping.
"I forgot most of the things I came there to get, but yeah, we didn't want the date to end so we spent several more hours at a coffee shop nearby," he said.
After just a few months, Schein was accepted into a master's program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Parris, coincidentally, was already working remotely for SAS, so the couple made their way to the East Coast.
The couple got engaged in June 2018 while on vacation in Australia, and the wedding planning began.
Schein first called the Costco store manager.
"You know, it’s a funny question to ask when you call, like whom do I talk to, to schedule a wedding in your food court," Parris joked.
The couple said the team at Costco was extremely helpful and went above and beyond to make their day extra special.
The bride and groom-to be, also fans of Harry Potter, wore their respective house colors. Schein wore a red dress with gold shoes for Gryffindor, and Parris wore blue and bronze for Ravenclaw.
Schein's best friend, who also officiated the wedding, made her bouquet out of pages from Harry Potter books. Parris even had a matching boutineer.
