Scattered storms, some severe move through state

The storms dumped rain in downtown Raleigh. Hail was reported in Clayton. Severe thunderstorm warnings were placed, but lifted in Wake County.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Scattered showers moved through central North Carolina Saturday, bringing hail and flooding to some areas.

The storms dumped rain in downtown Raleigh. Hail was reported in Clayton. Severe thunderstorm warnings were placed, but lifted in Wake County.

Severe storms passed through over Wayne County prompting a tornado warning and severe weather warnings. There were many reports of flooding in the area, officials said. The flooded was mainly in the northern part of the county.

In Wilson County, some flooding was reported in Lucama. There were also reports of downed trees.

Johnston County also had reports of downed trees and power lines. Officials said there were no reports of flooding.

Overnight lows are expected in the 70s.

Those getting up early on Sunday should be aware that fog is possible in some areas.

Sunday is expected to be partly cloudy and hot with highs in the mid-90s. Scattered showers and storms are possible.
