Strong Storms Bring Rain, Wind To Area

RALEIGH, N.C. — Reports of scattered damage have popped up throughout the Triangle area Wednesday afternoon as severe storms began rolling through the area.

Over 20 counties were under severe weather watches and warnings late Wednesday afternoon. (

The National Weather Service reported that a tree fell on a car on Cameron Hill Road west of Lillington. The vehicle was empty at the time of the incident, and authorities removed the tree shortly afterward.

Johnston County authorities said several trees are reported down throughout the county. High winds and large hail were also reported throughout central and eastern North Carolina.
