I am a Cary High School senior, and I am in the process of applying to colleges. I am interested in majoring in atmospheric sciences. I was wondering, if it wasn't too much trouble, if you could recommend a few colleges along the east coast that I should consider applying to. Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing back from you.

MIKE MOSS SAYS:      Jennah,     There are quite a few good meteorology programs at colleges across the eastern U.S. and I'm not certain what your cut-off might be for "East Coast." However, among the schools that come to mind in a less than complete list are N.C. State, Penn State, Georgia Tech, Maryland, SUNY (various campuses), UNC-Charlotte, UNC-Asheville, Cornell and Miami.

In case I left out a school that may interest you, I'd encourage you to look over these more comprehensive nationwide listings, including contact information, that can be found at www.nssl.noaa.gov/faq/schools.html and www.nwas.org/links/universities.html. Most of these schools have a web page with descriptions of their programs that may be helpful in narrowing your list. Good luck!
