Do the 1 hour and 8 hour loops show the storm that is passing or the projected course it is expected to take?

MIKE MOSS SAYS:     Matthew,      The radar imagery shows actual observed echoes of existing precipitation, so the loop-s act as a history and current position of areas of rain and storm cells. There is a feature on the Doppler 5000 and VIPIR radar display software that we occasionally use on the air called Future Scan that applies an alorithm that can make a short-term extrapolation of how the precipitation might continue to evolve over the next 30 minutes to one hour or so, but that feature is not available for the web.
