Wednesday will be mainly warm across the Northeast, with increasing clouds in the afternoon. Showers are expected to move through New York and Pennsylvania later in the day.

The rest of the East Coast will be warm, dry and sunny. More humid conditions will extend across the Gulf Coast.

Rain and storms are expected to inundate the Ohio and Mississippi valleys through midweek. This could result in destructive, dangerous flooding across the region.

Severe storms may occur across East Texas. This may result in damaging winds, flooding rain and possible tornadoes.

Damp and breezy weather is in the forecast for the southern Plains. In southern and central Colorado, it may be cold enough for a few inches of snow to accumulate.

The Pacific Northwest will be chilly and damp. While rain will inundate coastal areas, the higher elevations of the interior Northwest can expect a mix of wintry precipitation.

The rest of the northern and western United States should be dry and seasonable.

FOCUS: Heavy Rain Friday Into Friday Night

Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected across the Northeast on Friday into Friday night. The storms may be heavy in spots, with flooding downpours and gusty winds. Significant travel delays are expected later Friday across the region.
