Farther south, humid air will remain from Texas to the Carolinas and Florida. Scattered storms are expected in the Gulf Coast, especially in Texas and Louisiana.

In the West, scattered showers are expected in the central and northern Rockies. A cold front will bring showers to the Washington and Oregon coasts. This front is expected to merge into another storm that will produce snow over the Rockies this weekend and next week. Otherwise, much of the Southwest will be dry.

Focus: Tropical Weather Brews in the Gulf

Scattered showers and thunderstorms from the western Caribbean Sea are expected to move north into the Gulf of Mexico this weekend. Warm water in the Gulf can increase the chance of a tropical storm system affecting the Gulf Coast late next week.
