Cool air will settle on Wednesday from New York state and northern Pennsylvania to New England, in the wake of yesterday’s showers and thunderstorms. Warm air will linger across much of the rest of the Mid-Atlantic, Ohio Valley, central Plains and South. Much of the region will be rather humid as well. A few storms will dot the central and southern Appalachians as well as the Gulf and Southeast coasts.

Drenching rain will fall across the northern tier of the Upper Midwest. Severe storms are expected to occur over the parts of Wisconsin, southern Minnesota, northern Iowa and the Lower Peninsula of Michigan. These storms may produce damaging gusts, flash flooding and a few tornadoes. More severe weather may develop farther south over the Plains on Friday.

Much of the Northwest can expect dry weather and some sunshine. Clouds, patches of rain and spotty thunderstorms will extend from California to the central Rockies. This moisture will come from former Hurricane Rosa as well as a nontropical storm over the Pacific Ocean. While the rain will be beneficial, flash flooding and mudslides are expected to continue in spots.

FOCUS: Potential Snowstorm Early Next Week

A storm is expected to move from the central Rockies to the Upper Midwest early next week. This may result in significant snowfall from northern Colorado to Wyoming, eastern Montana and the western Dakotas on Sunday through Tuesday.
