High pressure centered north of New England will bring the region low humidity and at least partial sunshine. However, showers and thunderstorms will be common from central New Jersey westward across Pennsylvania into the Ohio Valley, as well as southward into Virginia due to a stalled front over the region. A storm moving eastward along the front through the Midwest will also bring showers and thunderstorms, and there is a risk for strong storms causing flash flooding and damaging winds.

Across the Southeast, there will be some sunshine, but afternoon thunderstorms are expected to pop up. South Florida will have a shower or thunderstorm at some point during the day.

Afternoon thunderstorms are also expected over the northern Plains, and these storms may reach severe levels. Damaging winds and flooding rainfall will be the biggest threats. The rest of the Plains will remain dry, with partly to mostly sunny skies.

In the Pacific Northwest, showers will linger from northern Oregon and Washington across northern Idaho and western Montana. The remainder of the West will be rain-free, with the Southwest featuring bright sunshine.

While hot and dry weather continues to scorch the Southwest and southern Plains, multiple rounds of showers and heavy, drenching thunderstorms will target areas from the Midwest, Ohio Valley and Mid-Atlantic to the Southeast through the early part of the week.
