High pressure over Colorado will bring another day of heat and humidity on Saturday for the southern and central Plains, as well as the Southwest. Blazing sunshine is expected across most of these areas as well.

An unsettled pattern will bring showers and thunderstorms from the Upper Midwest through the Ohio Valley and into the Middle Atlantic. Some storms may contain heavy downpours that could lead to flash flooding. New England, during this time, will remain dry and warm with sunshine and clouds. Across much of the Southeast, there will be afternoon showers and thunderstorms.

In the Pacific Northwest, a storm moving onshore will bring showers and thundershowers across Oregon and Washington. The highest elevations of the Cascades will have the potential for some snowfall accumulation. Some storms further inland across Montana may turn severe Saturday afternoon, with gusty winds and flash flooding. While the cooler air from this system will remain generally in the Northwest, gusty winds will be found across parts of Southern California, Nevada and Utah.

FOCUS: Downpours Aim at Midwest, Middle Atlantic

While dry weather dominates New England this weekend, frequent rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected to stream from the lower Midwest states to the Middle Atlantic. Areas of flash flooding may occur. Some thunderstorms may also kick up gusty winds.
