Monday will bring dry, sunny weather to the majority of the Northeast, allowing cleanup efforts to begin in areas affected by flooding. Milder air will arrive on a south breeze, with highs of up to 50 degrees across southern New England and much of the Middle Atlantic.

A calm, sunny day is in store for much of the Midwest and the Central states. Despite the dry weather, rivers will continue to run high and fast in the Midwest and the upper Mississippi River Valley, increasing the risk of flooding.

The Southeast will turn even wetter. Rain will move through the Carolinas while showers and storms affect the Gulf Coast. A few showers will dampen South Florida, which will remain warm and humid.

A cool, breezy and dry day is expected in the Southwest. The West will be unusually chilly for this time of year. Showers will move through Central California. Storms in the northern part of the state may produce hail. Showers will develop in coastal Washington and Oregon, while snow showers dust the Interior Northwest.

Focus: Storm in the East Late this Week

Soaking rain, snow and strong coastal winds may occur as a storm moves into the East late in the week. Rain will spread over the Middle Atlantic and parts of New England on Thursday. Colder air arriving Friday may turn rain to snow.
