Low pressure will move across the Great Lakes on Sunday with a cold front trailing across the Ohio Valley and southward into Texas.

This front will bring rain to the Northeast, the Mid-Atlantic and the South, with some heavy rain possible across western Pennsylvania, West Virginia and eastern Kentucky. Although the rain will end across the Ohio Valley by the afternoon, river flooding will continue from the heavy rain that has fallen across the area over the past week.

There will be some freezing rain or snow Sunday morning across some parts of northern New England, where temperatures will be below freezing. Temperatures will gradually rise above freezing in the afternoon, changing any frozen precipitation to rain.

High pressure will build across the Plains, leading to dry weather for much of the central United States.

In the West, another storm system will move into the Pacific Northwest. Snow is expected on the coast along with snow in the mountains. Some of the snow will be heavy at times, especially at higher elevations. It will remain dry across the Southwest with high pressure centered over Utah.

FOCUS: Central U.S. to Turn Drier

After relentless rounds of heavy rain this past week, the Central states will get a chance to dry out during the first half of the week. However, some areas previously unaffected by flooding may not be out of the woods.
