Weekend's heat could break records
A string of days in the 90s is on its way, as Thursday is the last time temperatures peak in the high 80s in the seven-day forecast.
Posted — UpdatedAfter a handful of pleasantly warm days this week, Thursday is a "transition day," meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner said, when hot, sticky air moves in.
There’s a 30 percent chance for showers and thunderstorms as a weak disturbance comes from the northwest.
A dew point in the high 60s will make Thursday and Friday feel steamy, meteorologist Kat Campbell said.
The high temperature jump to 95 degrees on Friday, which is the same record high temperature set in 1944.
Saturday will get to 91 degrees, with another chance for thunderstorms at 30 percent. The humidity will drop to tolerable levels, Campbell said.
Sunday is expected to be the hottest day of the weekend at 96 degrees.
The current heat record for May 26 is 94 degrees, set in 1994.
Overnight lows during the weekend will be in the 70s.
Monday will be 94 degrees, and Tuesday cools off slightly to 90 degrees.
