Wayne Deputies Seek Murder Suspect

Posted Updated

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Authorities issued a murder warrant Monday for Oberlin Pacheco Mejia of Pikeville after they found another man dead in the wake of a fight that they said followed an auto accident.

Junior Guerra was dead when deputies and Highway Patrol troopers arrived on Waynewoods Drive in the Saulston community about 12:30 p.m., the sheriff's office said.

Authorities had no age for either man.

An investigation established that there had been a fight among three men after a two-car accident, deputies said. Both cars, one of them overturned, were at the scene, they said.

They said it appeared that Guerra had been dragged by a car and had been shot, they said. His body was taken to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Chapel Hill to determine the cause of death.

Mejia is also known as Nelbar Sanchez Bermudez and is nicknamed Timbas, officials said.

They asked that anyone with information about Mejia's whereabouts call the sheriff's office at 919-731-1481 or Wayne County Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255.
