<b>GOLDSBORO, N.C.</b> — A weekend shooting death in Seven Springs was under investigation Monday, authorities said.

Wayne County deputies responded to a reported shooting at 430 Billy Price Road at about 12:30 p.m. Sunday. They found Shelton Douglas Southerland Jr. had suffered a gunshot wound, and he was transported to Wayne Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities said the shooting resulted from an altercation between friends. Witnesses have been questioned in the case, but no charges had been filed by early Monday afternoon.
