WAKE COUNTY SCHOOLS CURRENTLY HAS 615 AVAILABLE DRIVERS. DISTRICT-WIDE IN MORE THAN 250 VACANT DRIVER POSITIONS OVER IN WAYNE COUNTY. 25 DRIVER POSITIONS REMAIN VACANT. I'M TOLD MORE THAN 20 DRIVERS ARE IN THE PROCESS OF COMPLETING TRAINING TO BE CERTIFIED. A DIRE SITUATION. THESE FAMILIES WANT TO BE RESOLVED SOON. HOPEFULLY IT GETS BETTER. Wayne County Public School leaders walked through Goldsboro High School on Friday to address concerns raised by students over the conditions of their classrooms. At a city council meeting on Monday, students spoke out against vermin, cockroaches, mold, rotten floors and plaster peeling from the walls.

Mold, mice, cockroaches are a common sight at Goldsboro High School, students say. The learning environment has been neglected as students say they are forced to stare at plaster peeling from the walls and walk on rotted floors.

A Goldsboro mother says two weeks ago, her 5-year-old daughter's school bus never brought her home. Instead, the girl was dropped off across town by herself and was returned home only when a couple living there saw her crying by the roadside and gave her a ride.

A substitute teacher put Za'Hara Seaberry on the wrong bus, and a driver left her out 5 miles from home.

<p>every weekday at three o'clock, Rasheen Seabury sits outside her grandmother's home on Cardinal Drive in Goldsboro where the school bus drops off her five year old daughter. Zahara a kindergartner at North Drive elementary. But on january 5th when the bus pulled up and opened its doors, Zahara wasn't there. So whenever that happened it alarmed me. So I immediately got on the phone called North Drive Elementary School and I talked to the principal. Seabury says the principal told her Zahara had been placed on a different bus that would be arriving shortly 40 minutes later though there was still no sign of her daughter and panicking, Seabury started driving toward the school. I got a call from my grandmother and said that my daughter, she was have arrived with a lady in her car back at home. Zahar's family was relieved but wanted to know why was she brought home by a stranger? Jasmine Mcmillan said she'd watched as a bus dropped off the little girl in the west Haven subdivision. Five miles from the kindergarteners normal stop. Mcmillan says she saw the girl crying and starting to walk towards the train tracks. I looked at her as if it was my child and if I you know somebody you know it's just too dangerous out here in this area period and I didn't want nobody to take her snatch her up, do anything to her. Mcmillan and her husband drove the girl home where Zahara said she'd been put on the wrong bus by a substitute teacher and nobody listened when she told them about the mistake. Zahara said at this time, she um got off the bus and she turned around and you know, try to plead to the bus driver one more time. I'm not supposed to be here. Can you take me to my grandma's house? She said the bush driver closed the door and drove off. The family says the principal told them the school would be putting safety protocols in place to stop this from happening again. But they say two days later, one of their neighbor's Children was sent on the wrong bus from the same school. We were actually out looking for, you know, making calls and different things like that. Since january 6th WRL has been pushing for a response to the incident from Wayne County public schools, sending emails and calling. Hello, this is keenan Willard with WRL calling about the district hasn't responded to any of our messages. The Seabury family says after what happened to Zahara, the district has to take steps to better protect Children. My grand baby could have been kidnapped. She could have been traffic. I mean anything could have happened. And for these people to not having emotion. It's a problem for me and it should be a problem for them. But it don't look like it is keenan Willard WRL.
