PIKEVILLE, N.C. — A Wayne County man was arrested Friday after authorities said he shot his neighbor.

Tony Fernando Anderson, 60, of 100 Overton Lane in Pikeville, is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said they responded to a home at 104 Overton Lane at about 8:40 p.m. Friday and found Michael Wayne Hatcher with a gunshot wound.

Deputies said Hatcher told them that Anderson had shot him through the door of his home. Authorities did not say what may have led up to the shooting.

Hatcher and Anderson, who deputies said had extensive facial injuries, were taken to Wayne UNC for treatment.

Anderson was taken into custody upon his release from the hospital. He was being held under $125,000 bond Saturday.
