WAYNE COUNTY, N.C. — Firefighters and sheriff’s deputies responding to a blaze Thursday at 319 Camp Trailee Road in Wayne County found the body of a man inside the home.

Dennis Allen Anderson Jr., 26, was unable to escape and died in the fire, Capt. Tom Effler of the Wayne County Sheriff's Office said. Two residents of the home, Lisa Joy Hood and Adam Outlaw, were home at the time but made it out without severe injuries, Effler said.

After firefighters discovered Anderson’s body, they notified the State Bureau of Investigations, following standard procedure when a fatality is reported in a fire.

Firefighters from Dudley, Mar-Mac and Arrington departments brought the blaze under control. The cause of the fire was under investigation Thursday afternoon.
