Water Service Restored to Durham School

A water-main break knocked out water service to Creekside Elementary School Thursday.

DURHAM, N.C. — Water service has been restored to Creekside Elementary School after a water-main break Thursday.

A contractor hit a water man on U.S. Highway 15/501 between Garret and Mount Mariah roads, Tom Lucas, a superintendent with the Durham Department of Water Management, said.

Crews isolated that section's water flow, but that caused more water-service outages in the area.

The Orange Water And Sewer Authority sold water to Creekside, so the school did not have to alter its schedule for the day, said Michael Yarbrough, a spokesman for Durham Public Schools.

Crews restored full water service to Creekside and all other customers by 1 p.m., Lucas said.
