Watch as ocean claims another Outer Banks beach house
A home collapsed on the beach in Rodanthe, and the Cape Hatteras National Seashore is asking visitors to be cautious of debris.
Posted — UpdatedThe address of the collapsed home is 23228 East Point Drive.
Cape Hatteras National Seashore is working with the owner to remove the house and all related debris.
People on the beach or in the water in the area should be on the lookout for debris.
A nearby house also collapsed in February 2022.
Climate change is a factor A new report projects the U.S. sea level will rise as much in the next 30 years as it did in the past 100 years, and as the climate continues to warm, environmental experts say that the threat to homes in Rodanthe is only going to increase.
"Sea level rise is likely to continue to make these problems worse and make it even more challenging to manage these coastal areas," said David Hallac, superintendent of the eastern North Carolina branch of the National Parks Service.
