Washington police find shot man in crashed car

A Pitt County man died late Sunday after being shot and crashing into a power lines in the Beaufort County town of Washington, police said.

WASHINGTON, N.C. — A Pitt County man died late Sunday after being shot and crashing into a power lines in the Beaufort County town of Washington, police said.

Washington residents reported hearing multiple gunshots in the 600 block of Wilson Street around 9:40 p.m., police said. Officers found George Calvin Harvey in a silver car that had struck guy wires connected to two utility poles.

Harvey, 40, of Grimesland, had been shot, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
