HALIFAX, N.C. — Authorities in two counties have charged a Warrenton man in the alleged rape of a 12-year-old girl.

In late March, Halifax County sheriff's deputies charged Robert Cordera Lynch, 21, with first-degree rape of a child and a probation violation. Lynch remained at large for two weeks, deputies said.

Warren County sheriff's deputies and probation officers located Lynch and arrested him last Friday.

After an investigation, Warren County sheriff's deputies also charged Lynch with first-degree rape of a child in that county. The incident involved the same 12-year-old girl, investigators said.

Lynch was being held in the Halifax County Jail Tuesday under a $300,000 bond.

According to state Department of Correction records, Lynch was convicted of driving on a revoked license in Halifax County in May 2007 and of assault with a deadly weapon in Warren County in October 2008. He was sentenced to probation in both cases.
