Warren woman killed in murder-suicide
A Henderson man shot and killed a woman at her Warren County home Saturday night and then committed suicide, Sheriff Johnny M. Williams said.
Posted — UpdatedHe said that Roy Junior Steed, 29, of 781 Vanco Mill Road in Henderson, used a pistol to kill Tracey Alston, 32, and then himself at a home on Woodway Drive in Norlina around 7 p.m. Saturday.
Investigators have not said how Alston and Steed knew each other or what led to the murder-suicide.
Alston worked for the North Carolina Department of Public Safety in the adult correction division.
Steed had a lengthy criminal record dating to 2000, including convictions for drug trafficking, possession of a firearm by a felon and assault on a female, according to state Division of Adult Correction records. He was most recently released from prison in February 2011 after serving a nearly three-year sentence.
