Durham, N.C. — A 17-year-old is charged with first-degree murder in Thursday night shooting death north of Durham, authorities said.
Durham County deputies responded to a reported break-in at 1908 Torredge Road at about 11:30 p.m. and found 32-year-old Stirling Clark dead inside. He had been shot several times, authorities said.
A witness told deputies that the gunman was possibly still in the area on foot. Deputies apprehended Deiontra Taylor, who matched the witness's description, on Vintage Hill Parkway, authorities said.
Taylor, of 3523 Dearborn Drive, was charged with larceny of a firearm in addition to murder. According to the arrest warrant, he stole Clark's .40-caliber Smith & Wesson handgun.
"It appears there may have been some acquaintance with the victim and suspect, but we're only early into the investigation, and we don't know what level of acquaintance they were," Durham County Sheriff Mike Andrews said.
