RALEIGH, N.C. — An employee of Wake County Public School System was arrested Tuesday on two charges of indecent liberties with a student.

Arrest warrants link Rachel Ainsley Beahn, 20, to two schools – Middle Creek High School and Holly Springs High School.

Beahn has two charges of indecent liberties, with the warrant saying, "At the time of this offense, the defendant was a student teacher [...] and the victim was a student at this same school."

A school district spokeswoman said Beahn was not a student teacher, but a substitute teacher. She was hired on May 13, 2021.

"To the best of our knowledge, the crime did not occur on a school campus or in her capacity as a substitute," the spokeswoman told WRAL News.

Beahn has been suspended from her role as a substitute teacher.

The warrants say there are two victims, one at each of the high schools, but the age of her alleged victims was not released.

Beahn is studying mathematics education at North Carolina State University.
