Warrants: Raleigh man shot at neighbor

A Raleigh man tried to shoot a woman who lives near him Friday, according to arrest warrants.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh man tried to shoot a woman who lives near him Friday, according to arrest warrants.

Police stated in the warrants that Bart Joseph Lawson, 49, of 7804 S. California Drive, pointed a semi-automatic gun at the woman and pulled the trigger five times. All of the shots apparently missed.

Lawson was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, assault by pointing a gun and discharging a weapon within city limits.

He was placed in the Wake County jail under a $5,000 secured bond. His first court appearance was set for June 16.

He was convicted of driving while impaired three times between 2001 and 2003, according to state Department of Correction records.
