WAKE COUNTY, N.C. — Cellphones belonging to two men with a history of dealing drugs pinged near the place where the body of a Wake County mother was found in March, according to search warrants.

Authorities said the body of Faith Chere Bevan, 24, of 1002 Buckhorn Road in Garner, was found in a ditch in the 7800 block of Caddy Road at about 7:30 a.m. on March 18. According to a search warrant, Bevan was found with her clothes in disarray.

New search warrants unsealed Thursday show the phones of two persons of interest in the case pinged off a cell tower on Caddy Road at about 4:40 a.m. that day, though one of the men denied being in the area.

WRAL News is not identifying either man, because they have not been charged in connection with Bevan’s death.

A witness previously told police they last saw Bevan getting into a car with a man, who admitted exchanging messages with her on the day she died.

Warrants seeking to search cellphones, Facebook and Google accounts of the two men said the man Bevan was last seen with told police he later drove her to the home of a second person of interest in the case. That man, however, said Bevan never arrived at his home and may have been dropped off at another address where he was known to stay.

Warrants say that multiple people told police that Bevan was known to buy drugs from the man she was last seen with. A tipster told police that Bevan had been given drugs on the night of her death, even though the person of interest knew she had just completed a rehabilitation program.

Authorities said the man whose house Bevan was supposed to be dropped off at has a criminal history of selling heroin and other drugs, according to warrants.

“He was less than forthcoming about what happened that evening,” the warrant said of the man.

A third man, who was arrested on drug charges and knew Bevan and one person of interest, told investigators they were “likely on the right track” when they asked if it was possible that someone may have panicked if the mother overdosed.

The cause of Bevan’s death remains undetermined. Wake County Sheriff Donnie Harrison previously said there were no “obvious” signs of trauma on Bevan’s body.

Family members said Bevan was a waitress and a mother of a 5-year-old daughter. That child is being cared for by her father.
