Warrants outline fatal shooting in Wake Forest
Wake County sheriff's deputies were investigating a fatal shooting Sunday in Wake Forest.
Posted — UpdatedWAKE FOREST, N.C. — Search warrants released Friday reveal more details about a fatal shooting in Wake Forest.
Leslie Edward Smith, 62, and Jaquelyn Larue Gore, 48, of 3 Kelly Pine Court, were arguing outside their home Sunday afternoon, the warrants say, when Smith asked a neighbor to borrow a gun.
Smith called 911 at about 2 p.m. to report that he had shot Gore. When deputies arrived, they found her dead from a gunshot wound to the chest, deputies said.
According to the warrants, they also found a handgun on the table and shell casings in the home.
Deputies charged Smith with murder. He was being held at the Wake County jail.
