Warrant: Raleigh man yelled profanities at officers, WakeMed staff

A Raleigh man faces multiple charges after several reports of assault.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh man faces multiple charges after reports of assault at multiple locations.

According to an arrest warrant, Lucas Powell Carlton, 28, of Dogwood Drive, was charged Tuesday with one count of communicating threats, two counts of assault inflicting serious injury and three counts of simple assault. He was also charged with one count of second-degree trespassing and two counts of resisting a public officer.

The incidents occurred on Tuesday at a Raleigh home and in July on WakeMed's main campus on New Bern Avenue.

According to the warrant, on Aug. 27, Carlton stayed on the victim's property, on Lindley Drive in Raleigh, "after being notified not to enter or remain there by the owner."

At the home, Carlton threatened to injure the homeowner. According to the warrant. Carlton punched the man in the eye, which resulted in a large laceration, the warrant reads. According to the warrant, the victim lost a substantial amount of blood and needed stitches.

Carlton is accused of punching a second man in the face, the warrant reads.

Carlton says he went to the Lindley Drive home to tell the man to cease harassing him and his girlfriend. He claims the man hit him first and left him with facial injuries.

An argument at WakeMed

At WakeMed on July 19, Carlton yelled profanities at a group of security officers, doctors and nurses, according to the warrant.

He also blocked a treatment door, preventing staff from getting to a patient, and tried to carry the patient out of the room when told not to by staff, the warrant reads.

Court dates were scheduled for Sept. 17 and Oct. 3.
