RALEIGH, N.C. — Wake County sheriff's deputies accused a Raleigh man of assaulting them when he drove off with their arms in his car windows.

Deputies pulled over Demetrius Finch, 21, for a traffic violation on New Year's Eve, according to an arrest warrant. Finch started to drive away, so deputies grabbed him through the car windows, the warrant says.

Finch managed to get away, but deputies found and arrested him Friday. He was charged with assault and placed in the Wake County Jail.

Finch was on probation for a drug-possession conviction in 2006, according to state Department of Correction records. He was also convicted of assault and simple affray in Wake County in 2005.
