WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A Winston-Salem man is facing a misdemeanor child abuse charge after leaving his young child in a car unattended, according to an arrest warrant.

According to the warrant, Clay Micah Faulkner, 28, had "red glassy eyes" and was "intoxicated" and "unstable on his feet" when confronted by police on Sunday. He left his 3-year-old child "unattended with the door to the car open" in a car registered to him and was "belligerent in the parking lot."

The location of the arrest was not provided.

The warrant also states that Faulkner told officials he was headed to Lexington and that he refused to communicate or call someone to pick up his child.

Faulkner was being held on a $5,000 bond and was ordered to have no contact with the child.
