FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. — A Fuquay-Varina man faces a felony charge after putting a hidden camera inside a woman's house, according to an arrest warrant.

Brian Keith Fisher, 39, of 1432 Clayton Road, was charged Monday with secret peeping. He was being held in the Wake County jail under a $5,000 bond.

Fisher installed a Mini HD Spy camera with a motion detector in the woman's room sometime between the beginning of April and the end of June, according to the warrant.

"It's all pretty easy to find, thanks to the internet," said Steve Svaulina, owner of Creative Wiring Solutions.

Svaulina is an expert in home security and said there are few ways for a person to tell if a camera is hidden somewhere in their home.

"The only thing you could probably do is network discovery, if it is in fact tied into your network. That would be the best way to figure out something isn't right," he said.

Svaulina suggested homeowners check to make sure there aren't any network names on their Wi-Fi that sound unfamiliar. If homeowners do have a camera system of their own, they should make sure the network is secure and password protected so nobody can access it.

"A lot of people don't have their networks secured. That lets your neighbors come in and use your Wi-Fi. That happens all the time," Svaulina said.

Fisher works for Home Depot, according to authorities, but there was no word on how he gained access to the woman's home.
