RALEIGH, N.C. — A temperature reversal is on the way Tuesday. According to WRAL meteorologist Mike Maze, temperatures will drop about 20 degrees across the area.

According to Maze, temperatures will top out in the 50s on Tuesday after climbing into the 70s on Monday.

"It's time to break out the jackets. You will need them tomorrow morning," he said.

Up and down: Freeze possible midweek after balmy Monday temperatures

Monday ended wet, but Maze said the heavier rain will scoot out after midnight.

On Tuesday, it will be cool again, with a high in the low 50s. There could be some rain for the morning commute, and with winds gusting up to 25 mph, it will be a blustery day.

"By the afternoon you may need your sunglasses because the day will end bright," Maze said.

The coolest mornings of the week will be early Wednesday and Thursday, Maze said, when low temperatures have a chance to dip into the low 30s. While Wednesday will feel chilly, Thursday will get warmer as the day goes on, with a high in the 60s by the afternoon.

Later in the work week, pleasant spring temperatures should return, with highs in the low 70s for Friday. More rain will be unlikely this week, and Maze said it should be a beautiful weekend.
