RALEIGH, N.C. — Temperatures are rising across North Carolina after a quick chill this week.

The Triangle’s high is expected to be 81 degrees Thursday.

A high-pressure ridge is building in, which brings sinking air, meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner said.

That means hot, dry conditions will keep rain and storm chances low, she said.

A jet stream has moved to our north, which separates hot and cool air. That makes things feel like summer, a month before the season’s official start.

That hot pattern will stick around through the end of next week, and next Friday could be even hotter than this Saturday’s expected high of 91 degrees, Gardner said.

After Thursday’s overnight low around 60 degrees, this Friday’s high will be 87 degrees.

Skies will be partly cloudy throughout the end of the week.
